Former ‘Warrant’ Front Man: Jani Lane Dies at 47
The 80′s Metal world lost a legend today, as former ‘Warrant‘ front man, Jani Lane was found dead in a hotel in L.A. Thursday evening. Jani Lane was most known for writing the bands hit ‘Cherry Pie‘. Lane had a history of alcohol-related issues, receiving 2 DUI’s and serving 120 days after his arrest in 2010.
Jani Lane’s former band will pay tribute to the fallen singer at their concert tonight in North Dakota. Erik Turner, who co-founded the band said:
“We will be making a tribute before we play the song ‘Heaven’ tonight.”
He adds, “We never thought that when the song ‘Heaven’ was written we would be playing it someday in the memory of Jani’s untimely death. This is a very sad day for rock and roll. One of the great things about music is that it lives on forever.”
Investigators found a half-empty bottle of vodka and prescription medication in the hotel room where Jani Lane died yesterday. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
Lane’s death is being treated as an accidental overdose or a possible death from natural causes. More than likely, Jani was the victim of a deadly concoction of pills and alcohol. Jani’s death is much like the death of many former stars such as Elvis Presley, Anna Nicole Smith, Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger. The fact is, Prescribed medication is killing more people than any other illegal drug out there.
